EPQ Gymnastics Artefact ‘24

Heyyy me again, and another thought-provoking project!! This project was another very sensitive topic for me personally, but is something I am so proud of. Throughout Sixth-Form alongside my A-Levels, I completed an EPQ on ‘The Benefits and Harmful Effects of Competitive Gymnastics on Young Girls’, as an artifact with an accompanying essay. Through primary and secondary research and hours upon hours of work, I wrote an 8500 word essay and created a powerful piece of art to convey and support my research. And yes, I did paint directly onto a gymnastics mat- I think that might be a first? I hope that this piece provokes thinking for you as a viewer whether it be positive or negative, as issues within this supposedly glamourous sport have come to light in recent times and they deserve the time of day to be discussed!
