Izzy Driscoll Art
Kent Contemporary Artist
Hi, I’m Izzy and here is an insight into me, my life and why I create.
Art has always been a hobby of mine for as long as I can remember, and from a young age my parents have always questioned where I get my talent from as it was most definitely not them.
Throughout school and sixth-form, Art was always my favourite subject, meaning I often neglected every other subject if it meant I had more time to draw as I knew this was where my passion was.
Having achieved both a 9 (A**) and an A* in Art at GCSE and A-Level, I felt bored and burnt out being stuck within guidelines and mark schemes dictating what I could create and what would score best, so I knew University to study Art wasn’t for me.
Currently, I am taking a Gap Year to figure out what I want to do in life, although I’m not sure that’s ever a question I’ll have a fixed answer to. A-Level Art pushed me to breaking point so this time has allowed me to not only create artwork, which I want to create for ME, but it has allowed me to freely experiment with new media and develop new skills without the fear of a mark scheme or a time constraint.
Previously, my preferred media was a controlled medium like tonal or coloured pencil, but having time on my hands I have recently discovered my love for oil painting. Painting previously being my arch nemesis; a medium I would only use if I was physically forced to.
For most of my academic art career, the greatest influences on my artwork have been political and social issues, such as the Conservative Party during Covid-19, Animal Rights and Mental Health. However, continuing to create outside of education has allowed me to create work inspired by my favourite music, artists and memories exploring more positive themes in my work for a change and to create art with no reason at all, which has been really refreshing.
In my online shop, I have prints for sale alongside a limited selection of original pieces which I hope you will enjoy.
I am also available for commissioned pieces of work, for which you can contact me via Email izzydriscollart@gmail.com or Instagram dm @izzydriscollart.
The artwork I am producing currently is work that I absolutely adore, so I hope you love it too.
Thank you for visiting my website <3
